About Me

I finally got an actual picture of myself up on this page. I have a few other pictures that you might want to take a look at. (Why would you though? *shrug*)

About Me

Let's seem where to begin... I was born in Lansing Michigan back in 1973, which means that I grew up at the tail end of what has been called Generation X. I think is not particularly meaningful label as author Bryant Adkins points out in this essay

Carrot Also I'm a vegetarian, and I am frequently asked, "Why?" Different people have different reasons, but for me it was the environmental considerations that persuaded me to switch. A flyer titled How to win an argument with a meat eater does a great job of outlining some of the many great aspects of being veggie. Even if you're not a vegetarian, you might enjoy reading it.

Some of my relatives have done a great deal of research about our ancestors. If you're interested you can download this information in Brother's Keeper format. I also did a bit of poking around the net, and put together a neat page about Clan Hamilton of Scotland, the clan from which I am descended.

In My Spare Time

About 3 years ago, I went rock climbing for the first time. It was in a gym, not outdoors, but I was hooked. I love the sport and climb as often as I can. Unfortunately, work has eaten my life lately and I've spent less time on the rock than I'd like. That's ok; it's fun even if it's rare.

bike Even though I haven't been climbing, I have been able to spend some time outdoors. I was just recently shipped out to Boston for a three month stint. (I keep hearing "three hour tour" running through my mind... Hope it's not an omen). I love to bicycle and have been commuting regularly from Cambridge (where I'm staying) to Needham (where I work). I love starting the day with endorphins flowing through my body. Woo hoo! I ride a 2001 Specialized Stump Jumper and have a 2000 Klein Quantum Race at home.

I'm also involved in an on again/off again Dungeons and Dragons campaign. We been experimenting with modifying the rules, and have fun doing it.

Education

I have graduated! After five long years at the University of California at Berkeley, I received my bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Take a look at my resume if you are interested in hiring me.

When I was a sophomore, I was browsing through the Course Catalogue and came across a class titled, "Medieval Welsh Literature and the Legend of King Arthur." I took the class, fell in love with the subject and began working on a minor in Celtic Studies. In case you didn't know, Celtic Studies is the study of the people who inhabited most of Europe in 500 BC, and with the invasions of the Romans and the Germanic tribes were pushed into what is presently Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, and Brittany.

This neat quirk of fate resulted in my graduating with a major and a minor in C.S....
